| Ever since I was very young, I've been drawing. Starting on my parents' walls, drawings were peppered around the house, usually creating trouble. Then came the introduction to paper. Drawings became numerous and varied in content. In my early teens down in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, scenery became a favorite topic of illustration. At the age of 11, I sold my first illustration of the beach by the Hatteras Lighthouse to a tourist from a gift shop in Frisco, NC. After selling a few more drawings from the gift shop, I started painting signs for local businesses. I even painted the numbers and logos on a local service station's dirt track race car at the age of 16. It ended up winning first place in the car show before its first race. I then decided that I wanted to be an commercial artist. After becoming a professional graphic designer, my illustrations have become more practical than scenic, but drawing is still just as fun as it was when I was young. |
